New advanced practice opportunities are rapidly emerging for Physiotherapists in primary health care, emergency departments, orthopaedic and other medical specialties. Referral rights for imaging is also becoming more common in many health professions. This online learning program has been developed to prepare you to take on these evolving practice roles and will provide others with a broader view of the use of medical imaging in clinical practice. 

This self-paced, online learning course provides a grounding in medical diagnostic imaging concepts for the musculoskeletal system with a focus on the shoulder and elbow.

The online learning is supported by provision of clinical utilization guidelines & practice recommendations with downloadable reference sheets. 

This course is open to Allied Health Professionals practicing in all areas of the health care system. Participants do not require prior experience in ordering medical imaging. 

The program is delivered by Dr Jack Miller in partnership with Key Clinical Skills (Canada) with registration and additional support provided by the Ontario Physiotherapy Association. Some elements of this presentation may be specific to the Canadian health system and some features such as recertification programmes may not be available outside Canada.

Instructor

Dr Jack Miller

Dr. Miller completed his BSc in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto.

He then spent six years in New Zealand where he completed an advanced specialty Diploma of Manipulative Therapy. During this program he was directly mentored by both Robin McKenzie and Brian Mulligan. On returning to Canada he completed a Masters of Clinical Science at Western University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of St. Augustine.

Jack has been the senior editor of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Orthopaedic Journal, an executive member of the Orthopaedic Division of CPA, the President of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physical Therapy and a member of the CPA Specialization accreditation committee.

He currently works as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist in the Toronto region.
